Introduction:

This edition of the Porsche 911 3.8 Speedster is the 7 speed / Paddle Shift version and was first brought out in 2010. This was at around the same time as the introduction of the 2011 SSC Tuatara 6.9L V8 Twin Turbo and the 2010 Bugatti Veyron 8.0 litre W16 Super Sport. This particular Porsche 911 has a 3800cc Naturally Aspirated Petrol powerplant with 6 cylinders in a F formation.

Porsche 911 GT2 RS - [2017] image

Alternative Petrol F6's includes the 2017 Porsche 911 GT2 RS

The 911 shares its Petrol F6 engine configuration with the likes of the 2017 Porsche 911 GT2 RS and the 2016 Porsche 911 Turbo S 991 II. If you're looking for other fast cars which share the 911's Rear Wheel Drive, Cabriolet combination then how about the 1982 Fiat X1/9 1.5 8V or the 1965 Aston-Martin DB6 1965.

Power and Weight:

Weighing in at 1540 kgs (3395 lbs) this makes the Porsche 911 3.8 Speedster in the same weight category as the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 5.5 V8 C8 or the give or take 50kg.

Porsche 911 Carrera T 3.0 Turbo 992 - [2022] image

The Porsche 911 shares the same bhp with the 2022 Porsche 911 Carrera T 3.0 Turbo 992 (380 bhp)

In terms of power the 3800cc 24V F6 engine produces 402 bhp (299 kW) @ 7300 rpm similar to the 2022 Porsche 911 Carrera T 3.0 Turbo 992 (380 bhp) or the 2022 Lotus Emira First Edition 3.5 V6 Supercharged Auto (395 bhp).

The Naturally Aspirated F6 throws out 310 lb-ft (420.3 Nm) @ 4200 rpm placing it with cars of similar torque performance figures such as the 2023 Toyota Corolla GR Morizo Edition 1.6 Turbo (295 lb-ft) or the 2023 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid 3.0 V6 Turbo (310 lb-ft).

Power to Weight:

If one combines the weight with power or torque performance for the Porsche 911 you can get a better idea of it's real world performance.

If you agree with the late great Carroll Shelby then arguably an even better indicator of potential performance, Torque. Use weight as well and you end up with - Torque per ton, with the Porsche 911 generating around 201.2 lb-ft per ton. If you're curious as to what other cars have as much torque to weight then look no further than the 2002 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 SS 5.7 V8 (226.2 lb-ft per ton) or the 1992 Maserati Shamal 3.2L V8 BiTurbo (225.8 lb-ft per ton).
