Koenigsegg CCX Performance Review.

Introduction:

The 2006 Koenigsegg CCX 4.7 V8 Supercharged is a powered by a Petrol V 8. This variant of the Koenigsegg CCX 4.7 V8 Supercharged is the 6 speed / Manual version and was first brought out around 2006. This was at around the same time as the introduction of the 2007 Caparo T1 3.5l V8 and the 2006 Caparo T1 2.4 V8.

This particular Koenigsegg CCX has a 4700cc Supercharged Petrol powerplant driven by the Koenigsegg Rear Wheel Drive system.

Alternative Petrol V 8's include the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170

The CCX shares its Petrol V 8 engine configuration with the likes of the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 and the 2023 Ferrari SF 90 XX Spider 4.0 V8 Turbo. If you're looking for other similar performing cars which share the CCX's Rear Wheel Drive, Coupe combination then how about the 1985 Alfa-Romeo Spider Veloce or the earlier 1982 Fiat X1/9 1.5 8V.

Power and Weight:

Weighing in at 1180 kgs (2601 lbs) places the Koenigsegg CCX 4.7 V8 Supercharged in a similar weight category as the 2020 Iso Rivolta GTZ 6.2 V8 Supercharged and the excellent 2018 McLaren Senna 4.0 V8 Twin Turbo, give or take 50kg.

Lamborghini Fenomeno V12 - [2025] image

The Koenigsegg CCX shares the same bhp with the 2025 Lamborghini Fenomeno V12 (824 bhp)

In terms of pure power the 4700cc 32 valve, V 8 engine produces around 806 bhp (601 kW) @ 6900 rpm which is comparable to the 2025 Lamborghini Fenomeno V12 (824 bhp) and also the 2025 Ferrari 849 Testarossa Spider (819 bhp).

The Supercharged V 8 throws out 678 lb-ft (919.2 Nm) @ 5700 rpm placing it with cars of similar torque performance figures such as the 2024 Bugatti Tourbillon V16 (664 lb-ft) or the 2024 Maybach S 680 (664 lb-ft).

Power to Weight:

If you look at both power or torque of the 2006 Koenigsegg CCX in comparison with its weight you get a much more accurate idea of its real world performance.

Delage D12 GT - [2022] image

The 2022 Delage D12 GT (702.1 bhp per ton) has similar Bhp Per Ton stats as the Koenigsegg CCX.

The Koenigsegg CCX has a power to weight ratio of 683.0 bhp per ton. Bhp per ton figures of the 2006 CCX 4.7 V8 Supercharged means you're competing with the 2022 Delage D12 GT (702.1 bhp per ton) and the equally quick 2010 Koenigsegg Agera 4.7L V8 (696.1 bhp per ton).

Torque to Weight:

If you agree with the late great Carroll Shelby then arguably an even better indicator of potential performance is Torque!. However, torque isn't the whole story, you also need to compare weight as well for more real world comparisons such as torque per ton.

The Koenigsegg CCX 4.7 V8 Supercharged generates around 574.5 lb-ft per ton. So if you're looking at what cars perform similarly either on the drag strip or at the traffic lights using torque to weight as a benchmark, then look no further than the 2019 Bugatti Centodieci 8.0L W16 64 Valve Turbo (597.4 lb-ft per ton) or the similarly performing 2019 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport 8.0 W16 Quad Turbo (595.9 lb-ft per ton).

Acceleration:

The Koenigsegg CCX 4.7 V8 Supercharged can accelerate 0–60mph in 3.20 secs or 0–100km/h (0–62mph) in 3.3 secs. Acceleration rivals to the Koenigsegg CCX 4.7 V8 Supercharged include the 2024 Audi A6 RS 6 Avant GT (3.20 secs) or the equally as fast to 60mph 2024 Mercedes SL Class SL63 S E Performance (3.20 secs).

The V 8 engine of the Koenigsegg CCX 4.7 V8 Supercharged ensures that, ‘on paper’ at least, accelerates slightly faster than the 2024 Mercedes E Class E53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ Estate (3.30 secs) and the 2024 BMW 4 Series M4 CS (3.30 secs).

Ferrari F40 LM Competizione 2.9 V8 Twin Turbo - [1989] image

Quarter Mile time is a close race between the Koenigsegg CCX 4.7 V8 Supercharged and the Ferrari F40 LM Competizione 2.9 V8 Twin Turbo

On a longer format for acceleration comparisons the 2006 Koenigsegg CCX can reach a quarter mile in an estimated 9.27 secs with a trap speed around 146.9 mph. Similar performances down the quarter mile drag strip can be found with the the Ferrari F40 LM Competizione 2.9 V8 Twin Turbo (9.28 seconds @ 146.7 mph) and a close race between the Koenigsegg Agera S 5.0 V8 Hundra (9.28 seconds @ 146.8 mph) too.

Top Speed:

Some modern performance cars are often artificially restricted particularly when it comes to max speed. 155 mph top speed restrictions are often used as part of the German 'Gentleman's Agreement' for example, so be cautious when using maximum speed figures. The 2006 version of the Koenigsegg CCX 4.7 V8 Supercharged has a maximum speed of 241mph.

McLaren F1 6.1 V12 - [1994] image

Top Speed of the 2006 CCX equals the McLaren F1 6.1 V12 (240 mph)

If maxing out your car on the AutoBahn is your thing and you're wondering what has a similar top end performance to the 2006 Koenigsegg CCX 4.7 V8 Supercharged then there's the slightly slower the McLaren F1 6.1 V12 (240 mph) or how about the impressive Saleen S7 7.0 V8 (240 mph).
