Suzuki Raider Performance Review.

Introduction:

This edition of the Suzuki Raider 150 is the 6 speed / Manual version and was first brought out in 2003. This was at around the same time as the introduction of the 2004 Suzuki GSX-R 1000 Mat Mladin Replica and the 2004 Yamaha YZF1000 R1 Gold Limited Edition. This particular Suzuki Raider has a 147cc Liquid cooled, Two stroke, Single-Cylinder Petrol powerplant with 1 cylinders and Carburettor.

Honda AF24 Giorno - [2015] image

An alternative Single-Cylinder engine, Scooter style motorbike includes the Honda AF24 Giorno - [2015]

The 2003 Raider shares its Single-Cylinder engine and Scooter style configuration with the likes of the 2015 Honda AF24 Giorno and the 2024 Honda NT 1100 Manual. Alternatively, if you're looking for other bikes which share the Raider's Scooter style with a similar size of engine then how about the 2015 Honda AF24 Giorno | 2015cc.2018 Yamaha T-150 Semi-Automatic | 2018cc.

Power and Torque:

Weighing in at 107 kgs (235 lbs) this makes the Suzuki Raider 150 in the same weight category as the 2025 Yamaha WR 250 F or the 2025 Honda MSX 125 Grom, give or take 50kg.

Yamaha WR 250 F - [2025] image

The 2003 Suzuki Raider shares the same bhp with the Yamaha WR 250 F - [2025]

In terms of power the 147cc 4 valve Single-Cylinder 1 cylinder engine produces 16.3 bhp (12 kW) @ 9500 rpm similar to the 2025 Yamaha WR 250 F [36.1 bhp (26 kW) @ 12000 rpm] or the 2025 Honda MSX 125 Grom [9.6 bhp (7 kW) @ 7250 rpm].

The DOHC Two stroke unit throws out torque of 9.1 lb-ft (12.4 Nm) @ 8500 rpm placing it alongside motorbikes of similar performance figures such as the 2025 Honda MSX 125 Grom [7.6 lb-ft (10.4 Nm) @ 5500 rpm] and the 2025 Yamaha WR 250 F [17.8 lb-ft (24.2 Nm) @ 8100 rpm].

Power to Weight:

If one combines the weight with power or torque performance for the Suzuki Raider you can get a better idea of it's real world performance.

Honda SL 175 Single Cylinder - [1970] image

The 1970 Honda SL 175 Single Cylinder has similar Bhp Per Ton stats as the 2003 Suzuki Raider 150.

The 2003 Suzuki Raider 150 has a Power to weight ratio of 152.3 bhp per ton and 85.7 lb-ft per ton. Bhp Per Ton figures of the 2003 Raider competing with the 1970 Honda SL 175 Single Cylinder [176.9 bhp\ton] and the 2021 Honda CRF 300 Rally [176.4 bhp\ton].

Power to Weight(cont.):

If you agree with the late great Carroll Shelby, then arguably an even better indicator of potential performance is Torque. Factor weight into the equation and you end up with - Torque per ton, with the Suzuki Raider generating around 85.7 lb-ft per ton. If you're curious as to what other motorbikes have as much torque to weight then look no further than the 1993 Kawasaki GPX 250 R [110.6 lb-ft per ton] and the 1998 Kawasaki ZZR 250 Twin Cylinder [110.6 lb-ft per ton].

Acceleration:

With a 0-60mph time of 24.3 secs or a 0-100km/h (0-62mph) of 24.8 secs, this makes the Suzuki Raider 150 similar in acceleration to the 2017 Yamaha XMAX 400 Four Stroke (24.3 secs) and the 1991 Honda MTX 125 R (24.3 secs). This Suzuki Raider 150 also competes in terms of 0-60 mph and 0-100km/h with the 2018 Honda CB 250 R Neo Sports Cafe (0.0 secs) and the 2020 Norton Superlight SS (0.4 secs).

Yamaha XV 250 Virago - [2003] image

Quarter Mile time is a close race between the 2003 Suzuki Raider 150 and the 2003 Yamaha XV 250 Virago

When talking about the performance of the 2003 Suzuki Raider 150 on the drag strip it can reach a quarter mile in an estimated 17 secs @ 0 mph. Bikes with a similar performance down the quarter mile can be found in the 2003 Yamaha XV 250 Virago (17 secs) and the 2016 Suzuki Raider 150 (17 secs).

Top Speed:

The 2003 version of the Suzuki Raider 150 has a maximum speed of 90mph.

Suzuki GS 500 E - [2002] image

Top Speed of the 2003 Raider equals the 2002 Suzuki GS 500 E

If maxing out your bike on the AutoBahn is your thing and you're wondering what's faster at the top end than the 2003 Suzuki Raider 150 then how about a 2002 Suzuki GS 500 E (101 mph) and the 1999 Suzuki GS 500 E (101 mph).
