Suzuki AN 400 Performance Review.

Introduction:

This edition of the Suzuki AN 400 Four Stroke is the 0 speed | CVT version and was first brought out in 2014. This was at around the same time as the introduction of the 2015 Honda AF24 Giorno and the 2015 Kawasaki Ninja H2 R 1000.This particular Suzuki AN 400 has a 400cc Liquid cooled, Two stroke, Single-Cylinder Petrol powerplant with 1 cylinders and Electronic Fuel Injection.

Honda AF24 Giorno - [2015] image

An alternative Single-Cylinder engine, Scooter style motorbike includes the Honda AF24 Giorno - [2015]

The 2014 AN 400 shares its Single-Cylinder engine and Scooter style configuration with the likes of the 2015 Honda AF24 Giorno and the 2024 Honda NT 1100 Manual. Alternatively, if you're looking for other bikes which share the AN 400's Scooter style with a similar size of engine then how about the 2015 Honda AF24 Giorno | 2015cc.1958 Honda C71 Dream | 1958cc.

Power and Torque:

Weighing in at 222 kgs (489 lbs) this makes the Suzuki AN 400 Four Stroke in the same weight category as the 2025 Yamaha Tenere 700 or the 2025 Yamaha MT-09 Y-AMT, give or take 50kg.

Honda X-ADV 745 - [2025] image

The 2014 Suzuki AN 400 shares the same bhp with the Honda X-ADV 745 - [2025]

In terms of power the 400cc 4 valve Single-Cylinder 1 cylinder engine produces 33.5 bhp (24 kW) @ 7600 rpm similar to the 2025 Honda X-ADV 745 [57.8 bhp (43 kW) @ 6750 rpm] or the 2025 Yamaha WR 250 F [36.1 bhp (26 kW) @ 12000 rpm].

The DOHC Two stroke unit throws out torque of 26.7 lb-ft (36.3 Nm) @ 6000 rpm placing it alongside motorbikes of similar performance figures such as the 2025 Yamaha Tenere 700 [50.2 lb-ft (68.0 Nm) @ 6500 rpm] and the 2025 Honda MSX 125 Grom [7.6 lb-ft (10.4 Nm) @ 5500 rpm].

Power to Weight:

If one combines the weight with power or torque performance for the Suzuki AN 400 you can get a better idea of it's real world performance.

Kawasaki Ninja 250 R - [2008] image

The 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250 R has similar Bhp Per Ton stats as the 2014 Suzuki AN 400 Four Stroke.

The 2014 Suzuki AN 400 Four Stroke has a Power to weight ratio of 150.9 bhp per ton and 120.7 lb-ft per ton. Bhp Per Ton figures of the 2014 AN 400 competing with the 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250 R [175.8 bhp\ton] and the 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 250 R Japanese Limited Edition [175.8 bhp\ton].

Power to Weight(cont.):

If you agree with the late great Carroll Shelby, then arguably an even better indicator of potential performance is Torque. Factor weight into the equation and you end up with - Torque per ton, with the Suzuki AN 400 generating around 120.7 lb-ft per ton. If you're curious as to what other motorbikes have as much torque to weight then look no further than the 2004 Honda XR 250 R [145.7 lb-ft per ton] and the 2000 Honda XR 250 R [145.7 lb-ft per ton].

Acceleration:

With a 0-60mph time of 24.5 secs or a 0-100km/h (0-62mph) of 25.0 secs, this makes the Suzuki AN 400 Four Stroke similar in acceleration to the 2024 Honda XRE 300 Adventure ABS and Rally (24.5 secs) and the 2019 Honda XRE 300 Adventure ABS and Rally (24.5 secs). This Suzuki AN 400 Four Stroke also competes in terms of 0-60 mph and 0-100km/h with the 2018 Honda CB 250 R Neo Sports Cafe (0.0 secs) and the 2020 Norton Superlight SS (0.4 secs).
